Main duties of the job


Paediatric Staff Nurse

We are seeking a motivated children’s nurse to join our paediatric team, to deliver high standards of care to our children and their families.  To make an impact, you need to be enthusiastic, organised, with good communication skills and a genuine interest in children’s orthopaedic care. The post holder will work both on Alice ward and in Children’s Outpatients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Alice Ward is an elective 16 bedded children ward, admitting children requiring elective orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation.  We are also part of the Midlands center for Spinal injuries' and admit  all young people under 16yrs who have suffered a traumatic spinal injury in our locality.  

Our outpatient department runs both orthopaedic and medical clinics including pre operative assessment and outreach clinics across the region. 

We pride ourselves in the care we give our children and their families. General nursing care is at the heart of what we do, whether you are a Sister, Staff Nurse or a HCA, we work as a team and share the work between us. We are a very supportive and friendly team and we believe this is what makes our Children's Unit such a great place to work.

This post is a 24 hour post,  two twelve hour shifts per week, days, nights and weekends. There is also an opportunity to join the paediatric nurse bank for those who would like to increase their hours on a flexible basis.
